Rocko Iremashvili (b. 1979)
Studied at the Iakob Nikoladze Art School, the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, and completed postgraduate studies at the State Academy of Fine Art Stuttgart under Professor Holger Bunk, including a DAAD scholarship. Iremashvili’s work reflects a profound engagement with human experience under systemic and technological pressures, exploring themes of social unrest, historical trauma, and the tension between individual agency and autonomous societal mechanisms. Through a distinctive visual language, his practice investigates the anatomy of violence, the architecture of absence, and the metaphysics of light, creating immersive compositions where urban existentialism intersects with mystical voids. Rooted in reflection and philosophical inquiry, his art confronts the mechanisms of control and ethical boundaries, while simultaneously affirming the humanist capacity for freedom and authentic identity. Iremashvili’s work is both a diagnostic and a creative revolt, offering viewers a space to confront contemporary crises while seeking moments of liberation and soulful reflection.
